I am a qualified accountant with 20+ years experience in a wide range of industries...

About me

If you are looking for a traditional accountant in a pinstripe suit, you are in the wrong place! People have often commented once they get to know me “you’re not like I expect an accountant to be” – which I take as a compliment (no offence to other accountants). Yes, I can fill in forms and ensure that you remain compliant, but I believe that where I can add value to my client’s businesses is through giving good advice and acting as a sounding board for their ideas.

I chose to qualify as an accountant with CIMA, and became a chartered management accountant in 1990. This gave me the tools to work in a wide range of industries, and I’ve picked up an awful lot of experience along the way. Most recently I was finance director for a food manufacturer, joining the company as a start-up and helping them through to a successful trade sale seven years later. Joining the company at such an early stage gave me the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the business – even working on the production lines when needed! Therefore I have a good knowledge of devising and implementing control systems, managing cash flow (the number one priority for all small businesses), buying and implementing software, running a payroll, managing insurance, telecommunications, etc etc. If I don’t know the answer to a question I usually know where to look or who to ask to find it.

I decided to leave industry and form my own practice as I wanted a new challenge and I needed to redress my work / life balance. Working from home and seeing my children before and after school is much more enjoyable than sitting in an office 40 miles away until 9pm!

So, if you want an experienced, approachable business advisor who can also do the boring stuff for you, give me a call or drop me an email to arrange a meeting.
